More priority levels
Instead of just a star indicating priority and then filtering it into a list, set up more than one priority level. I need to have priority tasks but also need them sorted by high, medium, low, and none. not everything is the same priority. I find myself having to rearrange the tasks on the list all the time.

Personally, I find it very useful to have priority as two fields: urgency (high/normal) and importance (high/normal).
And then have the ability to sort by those two - by urgency+importance for normal day-to-day management and by importance+urgency for week (or longer term) planning.

You could also just number the priorities like,
1 - Highest Priority
2 - Next Highest
Excellent idea!... this needs to be done to make this application much more useful. I suggest three levels of priority as follows:
- star on a red flag = top priority
- star on a yellow flag = second level of priority
- star on a green flag = third level of priority
AND that the tasks can be sorted by these!

Agree with Mark. Maybe the number of times you click the Star determines the Priority, and the color switches. Though, I would suggest only two complimentary colors. Low Priority is no Star.
One Click = HIGH (Red Star)
Two Clicks = Medium (____ Star)
Three Clicks = LOW (No Star) - only used if someone accidentally clicked the star, or wishes to lower the priority.

Keep it simple stupid.
#1 and red
#2 and yellow
#3 and green
for task priority. Having the option for 26 letters or 10 numbers is too much.

Use letters (26) not numbers (10) for priority levels. Allow the user to assign colors if you have time for that too.
It would be nice to have two kinds of ranking: the obvious "priority" one, but also an "easiness" criterion.
Sometimes I'm wavering when I (manually) rank my tasks by priority. Some are easy but not that important, and others take more time, but still have a big impact. Currently I'm doing a sort of average between both, so that I can have the best ratios first. But I think having several (customizable?) criteria would be great.
Well, built-in priority management is still the most important thing.
First priority A: Urgent and important
second priority B: Urgent and not so important
third priority C: not Urgent but important
forth priority D: not Urgent, not important -> can be deleted,
I'd just like to be able to change the font colour.
