Make a channel with the webservice IFTTT. Check it out here: www.ifttt.com. We could use wunderlist with other services provided by IFTTT without the need for it to be natively supported in wunderlist.
Ex: If an event is due, then send me a text (SMS) message.
I downloaded IFTTT specifically because I wanted to use it with Wunderlist. Come to find out it is not supported. Booo

This is becoming more and more important to me. Wunderlist is the central hub of everything I (to) do, but it's barely connected to the IFTTT pipeline. Sending messages to firstname.lastname@example.org helps some, but it's pretty clumsy. I wish I could vote more on this.
Based on other people's comments, I may look into Todoist/Toodledo, as much as I don't want to abandon Wunderlist.
Help out those of us who are on iOS, we need better notifications of our tasks. IFTTT +Wunderlist would be a fantastic addition!

Todoist/Toodledo will start stealing people away if this doesn't happen soon. Todoist already have a lot of the other things people are asking for here, tbh the main thing keeping me with you is that I've got a pro account with you and moving seems like a bit of work.

Definitely one of my top requests! Maybe it should even be a priority 'coz this would enable Wunderlist users to get some planned/reviewed/... feature requests already started by a workaround.
IFTTT/Zapier integration will make a mammoth difference to my workflow - please consider.

Todoist just got this; that's a compelling reason for a prospective user not to choose Wunderlist until IFTTT is integrated.
We need that

Toodledo has an IFTTT channel, I guess that opening up Wunderlist through an API would relieve the developpers from a lot of work.
IFTTT rules, they are the masters of the API:s!

Please add this.

Great idea! Completely agree. The possibilities on this would be endless:
Task due? Flash your Hue lights red.
Assigned task completed? Send text or email.
If someone Friend's you on Facebook, create task on Facebook list to send them a quick message
This could catapult Wunderlist forward by adding so much functionality without the Devs needing to provide native support, like OP said.

Why isn't this idea more popular? I guess IFTTT just isn't popular enough. But this is a fantastic idea, and would come close to taking care of a lot of the integration that people want to see happen with gcal, Evernote, etc.

357 votes and still no IFTTT integration :( Come on 6Wunderkinder, this is important!

I've been thinking about switching to Toodledo too, simply for this reason - I love Wunderlist though and would much rather stick with it - please implement this!
Tom Moses commented
I thought about switching to Toodledo just because it has interaction with IFTTT, but I really don't want to, I would love to automate Wunderlist actions via IFTTT.

Please add this feature!! There are so many ways that I can think of using Wunderlist with other programs...if only there was IFTTT integration to make that happen! :o)

This is a great idea! If you can provide integration with IFTTT, then the users can figure out how they want to create triggers (or 'recipes' in IFTTT-speak) for using Wunderlist with other things!
I see myself using it the same way other iPhone users have already mentioned: Speak my reminder/to-do with Siri and have that reminder automatically sent to Wunderlist via IFTTT!
