Always show task detail view
I love the new feature of subtasks, thanks! but it would be great to have the option to always view the subtasks if the user wants rather than having to click on the task itself as subtasks might get lost that way

Please allow collapsible sub-tasks to be displayed inline (below and indented right) of the original task. Ideally clicking on the main task or button on the main task would collapse and expand all of its sub-tasks.

Wunderlist used to do this in previous versions, I have just come back as it is the only cross platform task manager I can find that works on all my devices but to not see subtasks on the main task list or even to have an option is just illogical. What is the point of subtasks if I cannot see them.
I agree that subtasks currently are not a very rich user experience. (In browser.) For some reason, I find them harder to slide up and down than regular tasks. I'd love to be able to drag them to another task, too.
This is what I came here to suggest. Nested tasks are a must for me as someone new to Wunderlist (thanks to the WP8 release and solid design).
My ideal set-up is to have a category (e.g. "Work"), a task (e.g. "Develop Doc XYZ") and subtasks (e.g. "Figure out resources required", "Implement in ABC and DEF locations") which are nested below the big task. Once all subtasks are checked, it should be an option in my profile to automatically complete the big task or not.
Each nested subtask should get FULL task utilities (due date, reminders, etc).
Please add this.
Why in the world was this declined?? Is there another feature coming that would eliminate the need for this? Or is the need to be able to see subtasks (beyond an easy to miss "pin") for many users to find them useful simply bring ignored?
Yes! At least an option to expand a given task to view its subtasks. Otherwise, for me, it's out of sight, out of mind. Those specific subtasks have to be staring me in the face for me to act on them.

Declined - I think you are probably better participate in the competitions, but what your users want, so you ignore it.
So just delete this forum and do not ask us to know what we want.
This would be very helpful!!'
Why was this declined?
Currently my only beef with Wunderlist is how Subtasks are handled. It's really hard to get a full grip on your day if you have to click on everything in your list to see if there are subtasks and what they are.
While I appreciate you have the final say, with this many people requesting it, it would be nice to know why the decision was declined as I personally cannot see a downside to this functionality.
Why has this been declined. THis would be a killer feature!
I give 3 VOTES to this idea - please COMPLETE this request. I love the way Wunderlist prints the subtasks indented under the main task, but I need the option to view the subtasks on the screen (both Desktop and Mobile). Rather than hidden under the little pushpin. Make it an option in settings, so those that prefer a cleaner hidden look can have it. Seems like this would be an easy feature to add and would bring a lot of people back to Wunderlist. I do LOVE Wunderlist desktop version and the fact that everyhting syncs across devices.
With this view pinned in android, I want to be able to swipe or move between all my tasks in detail view. This will also really help with reviewing all my tasks and planning my day, as the list view truncates most of my tasks.
Please add the future, it would be a great user friendly improvement.
Please add this feature... it's essential for me.

On my desktop client and tablet, I would like the option to always see my subtasks. I don't think it would be functional on mobile.
that's why producteev is better. But i still wait. Please do it.

For the love of God, please implement this. Very annoying to double click all the time.
+ yes, if you have a lot of things to put to to do list, and you are tired or drunk lot of coffee - this movement of a sidebar and that the things you typed before disappear breaks your thoughts flow, and you lost a picture, you should click twice again to open it then, if we are using subtasks and all other things in the sidebar we don't need a long input for a new task, maybe not for everybody, but a opportunity to change this behaviour would be awesome!!
+1 the most wanted feature for me!
Please make this happen! If I could pin the right sidebar open, it would make my workflow tremendously more smooth.
