set reminder date relative to due date (i.e. 1 day before)
When setting the reminder, I'd suggest that it give options such as: 1 day before, 2 days before, 1 week before etc.
The benefit in having the reminder date as a relative value to the due date is that when you change the due date, the reminder date moves with it. Another option could be given too for a custom reminder date, that pops up a calendar for selection.
Right now, with the calendar pop up as the only method, the reminder date has to be set manually each time the due date changes. This enhancement would be a material efficiency gain to anybody who pushes out the due date on a task multiple times before completion.
I agree. I like to set certain advance reminders for things due so that if u need to bring something with me such as a library book I remember to on the actual due date.
Would be awesome to have a configurable preference (on the Notifications tab for instance) to automatically add a reminder X minutes/hours/days/etc. before the due date, when adding a due date. This would automatically set a "default" reminder, which could then be adjusted by the user if needed for the specific entry.
Very important to do - especially for birthday lists
Google calendar does this.
Would address annoying lack of auto sync with due date that many people complain about. This would be a less cumbersome feature than present of resetting time and date.
Second the suggestion to fine-tune blocks of time: minutes, hours, days, week. Sometimes I need a reminder 45 minutes before an event just to prepare for it.
Perhaps add snooze to reminder time?
Oh, yeah, and it's annoying if you're postponing a task from the "today" list, it's really annoying that you have to change the reminder time BEFORE you change the date, or else the whole item disappears and you have to search your other folders for the item to change that as well.
This is a big issue for me, too.
I try to set lofty goals, meaning I'm regularly pushing back my tasks. Linking the reminders to due date would save a lot of time/hassle when doing this.
A useful related feature would be to add simple buttons to postpone by, e.g. 1 day or 1 week. That would make the whole process much easier.
This is a big issue for me too. But not just "1 day before" but "11pm on due-date"
If you added a DUE TIME, then you could say "remind me 2 hours before due time"
