I know the developers recently added hashtags, and I'm sure they think doing so eliminates the need for color coding, but I have to disagree.

It's a matter of SPEED, and ease of use. Split seconds MATTER, and every click counts! A color choice, as envisioned by the original poster, would be easy and require only ONE CLICK to turn it on/off.

    Hashtags require you to:
1: Click on the Task name to insert the text cursor.
2: Click and drag (in iOS), or use the cursor keys in the Desktop or Browser, to position the cursor where you want the tag to appear.
    3. On an iPhone, or iPad, you must then click the ,"123" Key, then the, "#+=," key to access the symbol keyboard.
    4: Type the hashtag
5: Click the, "ABC" key to access the letter keyboard,
6: Type in the Tag itself
    6: Click Done.

Hashtags are VERY powerful...I get it. But we're talking about the difference between a dozen or more keystrokes every time you want to categorize something....and ONE.

Amen! Add my voice to the chorus. I actually logged on here to make this very request and am very pleased to see how much support it already has. Looking at the mock-up the OP created, it's clear that he's a photographer too, and probably got the idea from that ability to color code images that's built into Photoshop. It's tried and true, and VERY versatile.

To you developers who might be (I doubt it, but I can hope) reading this...I had considered asking for the ability to add levels of importance, like a number, instead of just a "flag", which is just ON/OFF. Color coding is actually so much better, because I can use it any number of different ways. I can use different colors to designate a tasks degree of importance...OR I can use it to cluster tasks together based on what needs to be done. If I have a number of different tasks that need to be done in a specific room, or area of plant for instance, I can easily look at my list and see what else I might need to do while I'm here. It would be a VERY valuable feature. Please DO add it, just like his mock up shows.

This is in fact a duplicate of another request for this same feature,

    https://wunderlist.uservoice.com/forums/136230-wunderlist-feature-requests/suggestions/3683198-option-sort-completed-items-separate-option-to

but I'm going to vote here too. I don't think Wunderlist will ever be a great "grocery list" program, because I think they've always intended it to be used more as a "To-Do" list, rather than as a shopping list. That said, if they would just add this one simple thing, it could be used at least passably well. Without it...not really.
