This should have been included by default. I can't remember ever having to-dos not sorted/ordered by due date, at least in some manner (perhaps categorized, then sorted by due date, but it's always one of the sort levels).
I think the best way to implement this would be to just make the sort selection "stick" per list, not across the entire account. That way, if you have certain lists you'd like alphabetical, while others by due date, and others by created date, they will stay that way as you move back and forth between lists.
Also, please make this sort apply to created tasks as well. If I have them sorted by due date, and I enter a task that is due next week, with 10 already in the list before then, when I hit "enter", it should drop in the list at number 11.
